What's the best cat food?

I give mine canned Fancy Feast at night. And Science Diet Oral Care during the day. My nephew who works at a pet store says they're full of fillers. He's become a cat food snob, even thought he doesn't own a cat.

Any suggestions? Or is FF okay?

5. Cats are obligate carnivores; their digestive system and metabolism are adapted to eating meat.

They can't digest plant material well. High carbohydrate content can cause smelly poo, diarrhea, obesity and diabetes in cats. I look for higher protein and lower carb foods for my fur kids.

I think I''ll stick with the Fancy Feast for now. She goes through phases. I'll stock up on seafood based varieties and she'll eat it for a bit, then she'll be onto poultry based food. It never fails. They're funny that way!

I've tried just about every kind of expensive wet cat food on the market for my kitty, Francoise. This is Francoise's absolute favoritie cat food. Francoise has always favored dry cat food and pretty much ignores the wet cat food -- even though she gets both -- but she comes running for this particular Purina brand -- Purina Friskies Pureed Cat Food Topper, Lil’ Shakes With Scrumptious Salmon Lickable Cat Treats. When I put it in her bowl, she always licks the bowl spotlessly clean as if it had gone through a double cycle of the dishwasher. Try it with your cats. 9. Our cat

gets Nutrish Savory Bites for dry food. We tried a few canned foods, she seems to like Reveal the best. No fillers, ingredients for chicken breast is: shredded chicken breast. We give her a can every morning, keep her dry food out all day.

We feed ours raw ground turkey from MyPetCarnivore.com, with a little added taurine.

So far, our last 7 cats have lived to 17-18 on this diet. We currently have 4-, 10-, and 21-year-olds on the same diet. We are fortunate that our veterinarian's office is good with it. I'm tired of the others telling me I'm going to kill my cats feeding by feeding them a diet they thrive on. An added benefit is that their litter box doesn't stink.

They catch mice too, when one is stupid enough to find its way into the house, but they generally don't eat them. Maybe a taste here and there. Then again, if they ate the whole thing, how would we know?

12. I believe a cat needs roughage

Like grains ( fillers) for digestion. Whatever food the cat will eat is what's good for them. Mine eats fancy feast, Sheba. Lil grillers and Lil soups. He also gets the senior Delectables with vitamins and Cosiquin ireats.

... but that is difficult to find in a can here in Los Angeles. Francoise did ask that I roast a large rat in the oven in a salmon cream sauce for Thanksgiving but I declined.

14. My vets recommend Purina, Royal Canin, Hill's...

...Science, and Eukanuba. They say these companies have the longest history of sound science and knowledge of veterinary nutrition behind their products.

Our 4 cats get Purina Pro Plan canned food 3 times a day, and kibble once a day. The kibble is a mix of Purina Pro Plan, and 2 Hill's products - weight control and dental. The 2 males were a little chunky when we were using mainly dry food, and have slimmed down nicely now that they are mainly on canned food.

especially if it conttains bacon, eggs, ham, turkey or pasta. Noosa raspberry habenero yoghurt. Like every kitty who has ever deigned to share their lives with me, my little rescue adores human food.
