Related: About this forumMerlin is becoming much more independent
He takes off to who knows where for long stretches of time. He's also a VERY sociable young lad. A former co-worker stopped by and Merlin jumped up and started nuzzling her coat. It was the first time he'd ever seen her.
He's has starting to use the big kit cat's litter boxes, although it takes him a while to get in and out.
But he is still my sweet baby wizard who loves settling down on me so he can suckle on my hand or neck and snuggles up against me at night. And does he purr!! All three boys have started to wash him so I'd say he has been fully accepted by them.
My plan was to take him to the vet, tomorrow, for a follow up visit and to schedule his neutering but I'm definitely coming down with something AND we could get up to 3" of snow, tonight. Instead we will spend the day covered with a down comforter, sleeping and snugging. I brought in some firewood so a nice blaze might be in the plans for tomorrow.
(I did take a Covid test and it was negative. I wasn't too worried, though, since my last Covid shot was about a month ago.)

(93,115 posts)I'd say. Glad to hear he's growing a little every day.
I went out to see Mikey today, long overdue visit, but as I was getting off the interstate to the town my phone rang. I pulled over and answered it. My neighbor's daughter was calling on her mom's phone, not a good sign. She was calling me to tell me her mom had a heart attack while at the bank and would I take care of the kitties for the next couple days while we figure things out.
So I had a much shorter visit with Mikey and his mom and came back to make sure the other kitties were okay. My friend is under observation for 36 hours over in the next county she's sedated and intubated. I hope she's going to be okay, she's a nice person and worries too much about all her responsibilities.
SO I saw all the kitties today and they are all okay, at least. Glad Merlin is blending in with the others, it's a good thing.

(27,322 posts)What a shock that must have been for everyone in her life.
Her daughter is pretty upset but I'm sure her brothers are too. They're a pretty tight family, distances are nothing to them. I am concerned as my friend's pretty heavy and I have been worried about her heart health lately. All her kids are adults, I think the youngest, twins, are in their late 20s. The daughter has a one year old girl and grandma was watching her at the time. Thankfully, she was at the drive up window at the bank and not going down the road!
As I was leaving to head out to Mikey's, I saw all the emergency vehicles at the bank, across the RR tracks. I was thinking what a drag to have a medical emergency at the bank, though I couldn't tell if it was a car wreck at the time. 45 minutes later I heard about it.
Hope she'll be okay and comes home soon. I don't have room for the cats here, but I only have to walk about 50ft to their house and I have the key now. We'll check with each other in the morning and figure out how to go about things while my friend is out of commission. The daughter works and her mom cares for the baby so there's a big disruption here, the least I can do is deal with the cats, I don't think I'm a good fit as a babysitter, though. If I was, I'd offer to fill in.
