I donated to all of them (except Los Angeles Animal Services, because I don’t have Mastercard/Discover, but I asked someone who does to donate to them on my behalf and they kindly did).

I donated to Pasadena Humane Society because their area has been hit by the second worst fire after the Palisades fire, and Pasadena/Altadena don’t have the resources of Pacific Palisades. They have explicitly asked for more help because they’re seeing an escalating number of pets come in burned or suffering from other health issues related to the Eaton fire.

Los Angeles Animal Services and LA County Animal Care are going to need a lot of help, too. I saw a picture of people lining up to surrender their cats and dogs because they’re under evacuation orders and can’t take their pets with them. Those organizations are likely also getting animals who were separated from their guardians in the chaos.

Best Friends is on the ground in LA, too, and they are organizing flights of dogs and cats out of LA to sanctuaries in other states, where they’ll be safe until this passes, thus freeing up room so more animals can be taken in in LA. Their LA facilities are also pretty close to the fire but have not been hit (yet).

In sum, they’re all good causes. I chose to donate multiple places (and to the firefighters), but if you’re quite reasonably going to limit yourself to one, I’d check out their websites and see what speaks to you personally.

I really appreciate the information! It is so heart wrenching to hear people are giving their pets to these organizations because they can't take them where they're going. Those poor sweet animals must be so scared and confused.
