Related: About this forumMy Caturday has started out in a most lovely way
Carys made her usual breakfast appearance. This morning she actually gave me a soft little meow. When I went back to the kitchen, a few minutes later, she was still there so I grabbed a squeeze treats. She REALLY lit up! It was one of the catnip treats but her reaction came before she tasted it. I don't think it really gives them any kind of buzz. Merlin acts a little squirrely but then he IS a little squirrely.
I headed out to feed the outdoor kid cats and when I came back inside, there she was. Still! So I grabbed a Churu treat. Now, giving them squeeze treats is tricky because of that squirrely little boy but I managed to fend him off so that she could enjoy some of the treat.
Hopefully I can come up with more enticements so that she will widen her comfort zone. She is such a beautiful little girl, I miss her occasional requests for attention.

(5,891 posts)Stop it, Molly! and Shut up, Milly! are being fed. I was gifted a big box of Churu but I haven't figured out how to safely deploy them yet. I can never get all the cats together at the same time all awake at the same time.

Good to hear Carys is making longer appearances, hope she feels more comfortable being out among everyone else.

(27,447 posts)She is also no longer growling at Merlin.
I'm making chicken soup, today, so when I strip the meat from the carcass, they are all going to get a treat. I'll get her 'warmed up' with a sample.
This is an extended outing!
I always hope she'll start spending more time out of hiding.
Chicken soup treats will be a good move.

(27,447 posts)It's always a trick to get any food past Merlin but Carys got her share.
I overnight slow cook the carcass so by tomorrow they will be feasting.

(26,329 posts)We have to feed our 4 in separate locations, as our 2 yr old Siamese guy eats like a dog - inhales his food so fast I'm not sure he even tastes it. He would then push all the other cats away from their dishes and inhale theirs as well if he had the chance.
He gets fed on the landing of the basement stairs with the door closed. Black and brown tabby guy in the guest bathroom with the door closed. Tuxie girl in the laundry room, with the door closed. Siamese sister at large in the kitchen. After everyone else is finished, I let the Meezer boy out and he immediately checks all the other dishes to see if anyone has left a morsel or two behind.

(27,447 posts)Carys was stealing food from the other bowls so I just put a little extra in hers. Problem solved. If the boys leave anything behind, she takes care of it.
She's still out of hiding and actually took some chicken from my fingers.
I usually load the chicken soup with garlic and onions but I'm going to hold off until I strain the broth. Then it will go back in to the slow cooker for a couple of hours. That way I won't have to worry about them getting any of the forbidden tasty stuff. I will still toss in some carrots.
