So far, so good

I stayed in bed until 7, the last 10 or so minutes being subjected to paw whacks. I think Merlin's middle name will be Paw-wackit. On a brighter note, he snuggled with me for most of the night.

As quietly and slowly as possible, I got dressed, made the bed and fed the rest of the kid cats. No need to torment Merlin with sounds of food being dished out.

I also sprayed some calming spray on the blanket that's in the carrier. Before long, Merlin settled in so I zipped it up. (We leave for the vet in about 10 minutes.) His brothers have been stopping by to sniff.

Merlin is very quiet - no signs of stress. I feel a bit of anxiety because he LOVES meal time and, let's be honest, every surgery, no matter how minor, carries risks.

So I'll take my anxiety medication and get ready to drop my beautiful boy off for his snipping procedure. I'll be a bit of a wreck until I have him back home.

The latest pick up time is 4:30. I hope he's ready sooner than that because the clinic is right next to a major freeway exchange and traffic, in the afternoons, is dreadful for making left hand turns.

The calming spray really did the trick! He was so quiet, I kept checking the carrier!! Even when we were in the consult room he remained relatively calm, even though I could see he was scared.

I absolutely can't wait to bring my boy home. Then the trick will be keeping his hyper activity to a minimum.

10. I know how you feel. Since I've been retired, I don't go in heavy traffic unless I have to.

I'm familiar with the anxiety that comes with these procedures, but it will undoubtedly lead to him living a longer, healthier life. As for yourself, .
