Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact: the devil's alliance - David Marples - TVP World
The 23rd of August marks the anniversary of the Molotov–Ribbentrop Pact in 1939. It was an alliance between Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union to carve up Poland and eastern Europe between them, as well as to secure Germany’s flank in the event of a two-front war. For Poland, it was the fourth partition. What did it achieve for both sides? With us was professor David Marples, a distinguished historian of the region specializing in Ukraine from the University of Alberta.
