6. In this time in our country I ask all my fellow veterans to remember your enlistment oath.

We all took it whether we grew up in a Republican family or a Democratic family.

We took an oath to support and defend the Constitution against ALL enemies, foreign and domestic.

The oath did not mention political parties.

The oath did not mention a flag.

The oath did not mention the occupant of the White House.

The oath asked us to do one thing Support and Defend the Constitution.

The U.S. Constitution is where we get our rights and freedoms.

Some Veterans may have thought that your oath was no longer your responsibility the day you were discharged.

Some Veterans believe it is a lifelong commitment. That is how I see it.
I feel I owe it to my grandfather and father, who served before me.

But most of all, I owe it to the seven young high school classmates whose names are engraved on the granite wall In Washington D.C.

The seven young men who never got to grow up. Find a life partner. Have a family.
And enjoy the rights and freedoms granted to us all by the U.S. Constitution.
