1. That is awesome.

I am not a farmer but I pass lots of them each day. Farming requires physical labor but also mental acuity because of all the considerations, like climate, crop choices, the market, etc.. In South Central PA we’re losing farms to developers which is criminal. Where will we get our food? My age prevents me from planting the garden I used to plant. I get some for my personal needs but don’t freeze what I did in younger days. We all need to have an appreciation for our agriculture workers.

11. I went to a presentation by Pa. Dept of ag to dairy farmers.

The presentation was about how to consolidate insemination so as to have all the calves born in (I think it was January). That way, the farmer could have one or two months with an 18 hour day, instead of a 20 hour day.

That was around 20 years ago when the dairy farmers weren't losing as much money as they do now.

I think it was about 5 years ago that one of the largest dairy producers told Pa farmers that they would no longer buy their milk because of the decline in dairy consumption. The dairy could not sell the milk they were producing. Affected farmers had 60 days to find another buyer for their raw mild.

Of course they are selling to developers.

Oops! I just had a flash back to my youth in the '60s.
I learned I'd rather work in a pizza shop for $.75 an hour than bale hay. The food wasn't as good though.

10. I suspect it is a corporate farm

I also suspect it would be too expensive for an individual on a family farm to buy that type of equipment.

I suspect too that I may be wrong.
