Related: About this forumIf you receive your Social Security this month, please post and let us know.
I won’t be receiving benefits until Wednesday the 12th, so I need the reassurance.
I’m sure you understand.

(23,155 posts)I read the other day that your distribution date is connected to your birth month. He is June, I am October, so following that logic it makes sense for his to come earlier in the month.

I really don't think they want a kajillion senior citizens storming the White House just yet, though I did see yesterday that they are putting up new barriers. I think we're a little farther down on their list of people's lives to ruin. And I don't think either the Senate or the House would take it lying down, either--even most of the Republicans. I hope I'm right!

(20,401 posts)The threats coming from felon and dud are abuse. Even if Social Security continues to disburse payments, the threats will continue in an effort to demoralize us through anxiety. The threats will also undermine the economy, because we'll do our best to limit any extra spending.
Many of us have not experienced abuse in our personal lives, and so might not recognize the clues or have the tools to fight back. I didn't accept abuse in my relationships and either worked with people to change their behavior or walked away. I'm not sure how we can walk away from our own government, but I hope we figure out a strategy.
In the meantime, we can remember FDR's quote: "We have nothing to fear but fear itself." I didn't think I'd have to feel fear when I thought of the U.S. government, but there we are.
Hang in there and have find some joy, some enjoyment.

(27,679 posts)People here seem convinced all SS is going to disappear within a couple of weeks.
Maybe some of them are finally realizing that their elderly mothers will be moving in with them once SS goes away.

(27,679 posts)I am apparently the only person here who thinks there may be an odd Republican or two who understands that if they do away with Social Security, Mom will be living with them. And not a lot of them really want Mom doing that.
And I'm also snide because every time I point out that SS is NOT going to be eliminated all of a sudden, people here repeat that of course the R's will happily impoverish their own mothers and grandmothers. As low an opinion I have of them, nope.

(88 posts)I wasn't expecting a deposit until tomorrow, and it wasn't there this morning. But when I checked late this afternoon, it was in my account. This means that everyone outside the U.S. who receives Social Security should have a deposit coming their way. Not sure how long different banks in different countries take to process these monies. That could account for a slight delay.

(10,195 posts)I applied in mid November, and didn’t hear anything for 3 months. I’d check online every week, but it was always said to be “processing.” Concerning!
Then ten days ago I received an email saying I’d been cleared through the process, and this morning awoke to news it’d been deposited in my bank.
Frankly, I’m astonished!
