Hi Everybody,

Welcome Black History Month 2025!!!

Those of you who have known me over the years know how important I consider Black History Month. I have been doing visual presentations and gathering information to share for over thirty years, starting with a presentation I did in 1992 about African Americans in Science and Technology and then moving onto black artists, black poets, black politicians, black veterans, African countries, black organizations. You name it, I did it. When I first started sending out e-mails, I managed one a day on weekdays, each one taking 2-5 hours to put together. As my work life got more demanding, I could only do one a week. At that point my distribution list had over 100 people. In 2017, I started posting my efforts in DU. If you do a search on my name and either “BHM” or ‘Black History”, you can see what I’ve done.

In 2022, the same year my book came out, (thank you all for your support!!!) , my job became too taxing for me to do the research necessary to do a BHM “blurb” and I started doing the Jeopardy boards. One per week. In December 2022, I started my weekly blog. It took up to 6 hours to put each one together, but it was something I loved doing. YThen, once more, I started a new job - wonderful salary but even more demanding. And I had to give up the blog.

You may have noticed that I don’t post *anything* in DU anymore. My job takes me around the country and I interact with a lot of nice people with differing views and it became harder and harder to see them smeared in DU. In my old age, I have gotten too conservative, and I don’t find DU welcoming, so I no longer post in General Discussion, and since the election, I try to avoid the news – I call it “doing an ostrich”, but really, it f*cks with my mental health and triggers my bipolar disorder. I read the Atlantic and the Economist and get a daily from CNN; that’s enough for me. Maybe too much… the things that come through my Facebook feed make me sick.

I had some down time and decided that I would find the time to do ONE Jeopardy Board. We’re 25 years into the new century, so I wanted to focus on *21st century* history only. Most people know the “old stuff”. I actually made my first 21st century board last year and it’s pretty good. It has two categories with politics, one category of “concepts”, one category of “Black Lives Matter” and one category of New Billionaires.

This year, in an effort to make the board completely different, I did new categories and included some “current events”:
- Science and Technology,
- Sports,
- 21st Century organizations,
- Arts and entertainment and
- one specifically called “Stepping Backward”. ,

The 100’s should be easy. The 500’s will be purposely obscure.

If this is your first time playing, all you do is pull down on the number of teams, choose "1 Team", to keep score of yourself, or choose "No Teams" just for the fun of it. Then Start!

With the mouse, click on a square to reveal the text(Jeopardy answer). Guess the response(Jeopardy question). You don't have to type it in. If you're playing with others, just say it out loud. Then move mouse to click on "spacebar" to reveal the response(Jeopardy question) and click on "+" to add points. The game knows how many points to give you. Click on "esc" to go back to the board.

Enjoy!

P.S. If you enjoy this, and you want more boards, here are the old ones with historic black history.
