So hopefully everyone that wants to discuss has found a copy of the book. Reading officially starts NOW! Shame on you if you started early.
Anyway, here are my thoughts for when to start discussions. This got a little tricky with me not having read the book and there being a large chunk of the book at the end that isn't traditional text, but here is the best I could come up with.
January 25--Part 1 Discussion starts (through page 108 which is all of "A"
February 1--Part 2 Discussion starts (109-185--Chapters 7, 8, & 9)
February 8--Part 3 Discussion starts (186-End)
Have at it. Let me know what you think.

(10,044 posts)Here's another website that shows all CAPS preferred by some book publishing people. The only complaint comes from people who call it "screaming" which did not apply long ago when there was no internet.
I learned it in Catholic school back '50 or so....that's 1950, not 1850

Good luck with your discussion group. Not interested this time but if you ever tackle a mystery, I have some favorites that I'd like to reread if you ever....

(14,488 posts)Is there any reason we can't start the discussion on the first 100 pages now? The reason that I ask is that Jennifer Egan is a phenomenal writer. I"ll probably finish the first 100 pages tomorrow; and the rest of the book before the 25th. If we warn people that the discussion contains spoilers - the discussion of each section assumes that you have read the entire section - people could contribute when they completed the section; and know not to read the posts before that.
The reason I ask is that based on what I've read so far, my discussion of the first 100 pages will be significantly different after I've just read 100 pages than it will be after I've read, say, 200 pages. Every page changes my impression of the previous pages.
I am comfortable with your schedule. I do think people's views will differ depending on how much of the book they've read.

(22,340 posts)I was just trying to go with what people seemed to want. I will pin the Part I discussion in a couple minutes. I am half done with the first section (and agree that she is phenomenal) and hope to finish tonight if I get my class prep done early enough today.
