"Behind the Beautiful Forevers" is an amazing MUST read book.

I was hooked on the first paragraph. It is a marvel to read.
I wish I could think even one sentence as good as she writes.

From wiki:
Behind the Beautiful Forevers: Life, Death, and Hope in a Mumbai Undercity is a non-fiction book written by Pulitzer Prize-winner Katherine Boo in 2012. It won the National Book Award.
The book describes the present-day Annawadi slum of Mumbai, India, located near the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport. It follows the interconnected lives of several residents, including a young trash picker, a female "slumlord," and a college student.
The deservedly won these prizes:
2012 National Book Award, winner, Nonfiction category.[1]
2012 National Book Critics Circle Award, finalist, Nonfiction category.[3]
2012 Samuel Johnson Prize, shortlist [4]
2012 Guardian First Book Award, shortlist [5]
2012 New York Times bestseller
2012 Salon What to Read Awards[6]
2012 Los Angeles Times Book Prize

and about the multi award winning author:

They have to be pretty outstanding, plus most of my reading is history.

having said that, my top favorite writer is Rick Bragg. I will drop everything to grab something he writes.

There are a lot of "2nd place" writers of different genre.

I will be looking for Ms. Boo's writings around the net, and hopefully another book soon.

He is amazing. Another one that I just about pee while reading is Bill Bryson. I can re-read his over and over again. You have excellent taste!

I have Bryson's books but not read any.
Will add him to the TOP of the "next" stack.
Thanks......

and was just laughing nearly every page. His descriptions of his Mom and Dad at home, work and ON VACATION are just amazing. He really describes each state/region he visited to a TEE!

Much like the LIfe of Pi, which I found more interesting as a movie than a book.

and I loved it! I haven't seen the movie yet but I plan to get it from Redbox or something. I did find it boring early on when it was all about animal habits, but once I got past that I really enjoyed the rest.
