By the way, I was intrigued by the last cartoon. I was somehow unaware of Dr. Seuss's career as a political cartoonist during the Second World War.
I found this BBC article:

I've never read one, I don't care that much about sports, and even the swimsuit edition is an obvious ploy. I just hate to see another print magazine bite the dust.

I love paging through my Rolling Stone Magazine and hanging out at the local record store. They all just have to hang on a little longer.

Thanx for posting!!

8. Can someone explain to me the point of the one about COVID and China?

Is it suggesting the virus was a Chinese bio-weapon? Or that China wants their entire population to die of COVID?

11. Believe the cartoonist is referring to China's bio-weapons program

Which China will deny they have. If and that's a big IF, IF China did produce covid as a bio-weapon
and they are attempting to make a deadlier version, who are they thinking about targeting?
My guess is Taiwan. He probably drew this in response to a rumor he read.

16. Sounds like quite a stretch, approaching the level of misinformation. I have seen nothing that suggests Covid was

developed a bio-weapon. The suggestion that the Chinese wanted to kill 100% of their own population is absurd. I blame china for suppressing information about the Covid outbreak that put the whole world at risk, but I don’t find the cartoon eioher funny or informative.

But I thank you for your take on the meaning. If it were true, did China think the disease would be contained in Taiwan? Sounds exceedingly improbable. Bio-weapons have to have a deadly effect very rapidly or else they are useless, and dangerous to the entire world. But I suppose it is possible they were experimenting with the virus for possible use as a bioweapon and it escaped containment in the lab.

I think the origin in a market selling local wild animals for food is more probable. I used to buy meat like that in West Africa when I was a Peace Corps volunteer there.

17. To be totally honest I knew someone would ask about this cartoon

I gave it a lot of thought before adding it to the group, when I remembered reading that editorial
cartoonists read and study almost everything written and spoken by politicians and
government employees looking for the sliver of truth to educate readers about.

Plus I don't take this guy as a conspiracy nut, he's either early with his observations or he's
barking up the wrong tree, time will tell. And I believe it's healthy for us voters to be informed
of everything going on in the world. Have a nice day.

This cartoon is ridiculing anyone who raises alarms about MAGA and Trump's fascist threat. You can see this kind of counter punch tactic from Fox News etc. Where they act like anyone who suggests Trump is any kind of authoritarian threat as delusional and overreacting in a crazy way Here are a few others of his

I've seen him around for years, most of his cartoons do not pass my smell test, the one above was
a rare exception and was OK to post IMO. He's one of those cartoonists I don't keep a bookmark on.
