(12,681 posts)I'd forgotten there was so much physical comedy.

(159,949 posts)it astounds me how funny they were and how top-notch the editing was......and where did they get all those character actors, absolutely amazing!

(12,681 posts)I was surprised at how well it holds up. Micky's frantic energy reminds me somewhat of Robin Williams. I wonder if he watched the show as a teen?
Usually the editing was as good as you say but I was watching Too Many Girls (Davy & Fern) last night and noticed some choppy editing and censorship of the episode. I posted about it in another group.

(24,828 posts)in the 60s. Towards the end of their run on TV they were doing live concerts. A bit of trivia, Jimi Hendrix actually opened a few shows for them before he was real well known. I had a ticket for one of those shows in San Jose, California but it got cancelled because one of the Monkees was ill. The ticket cost $3.50.

(12,681 posts)I'd heard that at at least one of the concerts Jimi was practically booed off the stage by Monkees chanting "We want the Monkees!" I don't know how much truth there is in that. My first exposure to the show was in 1981 when I was 8 or 9. It wasn't a show I sought out originally. It just happened be scheduled in a block of other shows I liked. I became an instant fan. I loved them all but Davy was my favorite.
One of my regrets was that I didn't go to any of their concerts but the circumstances of that were beyond my control. As a teenager and for most of my adulthood I just didn't have the money to go to concerts. Mike's death hit me kind of hard because now only one of them is still alive.
Mr.Bill
(24,828 posts)but $3.50 was a lot of money for a kid back then so I went and turned it in for the refund.
$3.50 back them would buy a record album.
