I was just reading a Facebook post from a local camera store offering to digitize your old photos and slides.

In Jacksonville, the public library has a "lab" where you can do-it-yourself, and even digitize VHS videocassettes (that aren't copyright protected). For free.

Or, if you have a LOT of old slides and negatives, you can get your own scanner. My nephews gave me one a few years ago, and I put it to good use during the pandemic lockdown.
