I think we close the door too soon

I think we don't wait any longer,
as if we have become programed.

And all life's answers are at the ready,
just a click away.

We no longer have to wait for the answers,
where once upon a time it was written
down on the page, and you had to search hard, just to find,

the words in a book, or possibly someplace else,
the words that were never written down.

I think for some, it seems like you can't know the answers,
soon enough.

I worry that our youth might start to become too cynical.
As if they were responsible for all our shortcomings,

When these shortcomings of ours collectively, took time, endless it seems,
Time.

Wrong is wrong, this is a fact. I think true history should be taught.

Those who don't understand what Woke means make it sound like
it means feeling blue, when it should mean the opposite.

I had to look for words and their meanings. I had to read from books,
go to the library, a couple miles walk to find the words I needed to find.

Listen to people, even those I knew were mostly full of shit.

The folks who were full of shit, I could tell, had a hard life,
and it was easy for me to give them a pass and respect,
them a small bit, who they were was part and parcel,
of a shitty time that needed to change.

I thought life was easy in my youth.

But now I know the truth.

It never was.

And you wish you could teach that, but that is impossible.

It doesn't matter how good you are with a computer,
not even GptChat could work, Harvard, Yale, MIT,
human beings don't operate that way.

I think that's what makes our children depressed.
The answers are not in any bottle.

There is no elixir, there never was.

We only have ourselves.
