We are the Little People
Meaningless, poor, and worthless
Abandoned and hopeless
Lacking wealth and knowledge
We are nothing but dust
On the floors of your mansions
We labor for you
Full days never ending
While you sit there enjoying
The freedom from toil
Unshackle us
At least, pay us!
For all we have done
And all we will do
Out in the future, your fortunes will fade
You’ll be like us, just skin and bones
Rotting in the grave
You will be forgotten
Or remembered for being ruthless
A horror of mankind reviled
How can you sit there
Counting your coins and your bonds
Metal and paper
That somehow makes you worthy
Of respect and admiration,
When you’ve kicked us to the curb?
Please, Little People,
Can we somehow destroy
The prestige of the wealthy
Who don’t respect us
Or will we crawl back
Into our hovel hole homes
Unwashed and uneducated
Dirty, just Little, and ignored?
