World is Over Soon

[The Madcap]

(Note: This is a really dark one I wrote in 2016. It should be a stark reminder of what we face in 2024.)

I’ve got this gnawing feeling, this fear of the imbeciles
The future black with incompetence
Dystopian loss and burning
Fires of death and mutilation
As they tear down the bricks of our country
A deliberate act of internal war.

They elected a fool, a notion of power
Who is nothing more than a glimpse of Satan
A pretender, a pompous old master
Who thinks he’s nothing short of a Savior
Who believes his nonsensical diatribes?
A tweeting bird, just a vulture

And when he gets his comeuppance
It will likely be way too late
As the nations run out of shells and planes
And bombs he gladly sent on their way
Nothing will be left but sand that was rubble
And corpses scorched more than once.

Why do you want to kill us?
Why do you want to take all we have?
Isn’t your gold and ivory more than enough for you?
With your name in giant letters on every one of your castles
In garish flashing lights and blaring noise
When you don’t have enough, you extend your slimy arms
And sweep in the coins and the gold dust
While you steal mere bread from the hands of the widow
And the milk from the babe
And the home from the family
And the dignity from the father
And the hope from the mother
As you strip out the muscle from the people
And leave nothing but skin and bones
And then you decide you will consume that all too
Eat away, oh fool, for you’ll rot away in time
And if anyone’s left, you’ll be a word of derision
On their withered lips…

I would say that this is what we could face, if he gets in again.

If he does, I have probably the darkest one of all stored away. I wrote it during GWB, but it would still apply. If he loses, then I'll spare everyone that one.
