What should we do for the children?
What have we done to their world?
Leaving nothing but disaster in our wake
As we sail through the currents of life
What were we left by our parents?
The hopeless burden of wars
Endless drudgery pointless jobs
Materialism run amok
But now that we’ve taken it all
Into our portfolios and homes
We’ve taught our own children
To want and to buy til they’re done
So what is their future in life?
What can they count on that’s good?
Will they see love or will they see hate
And fear ruling their lonely lives?
What can we do to help them?
What should we give to make it right?
Or should we step back to let them live
In peace without hindrance in time?
