the edge of age
it is time to admit that i am past the edge of age
once all looked ahead now all things look back
the calendar passes as if it’s ticking clock racing
a slow decline has gradually become more rapid
it is time to admit that dark mirrors are not lying
once i preened and glanced hoping certain looks
yet now reality stares back in an image of decay
showing pictures of moments at the end of time
it is time to admit that the body has run its race
moving for the sake of pleasure has disappeared
unsteady steps uneven ground treacherous toes
a distance is growing as the universe is shrinking
it is time to admit i can see past the edge of time
into the nothingness into blackness the letting go
