Kim Stanley Robinson. Your thoughts?

I haven’t read much of him at all. I did read “The Minstry of the Future”. I’m glad I read it, though sometimes it was hard to stay with.

I started another book that was one of those about climate change I remember there was a character named Anna and she and her husband had two little kids. I didn’t finish that one.

I thought Ministry was Good. But from what I’ve read of him so far, I wish he would write nonfiction. About climate change and so forth.

1. I've read only his Mars trilogy...

Red Mars, Green Mars, Blue Mars. Enjoyed those books immensely.

5. Loved his Mars Trilogy.

Last summer read both New York 2140 as well as The Ministry for the Future.

New York 2140 also about climate change but more humorous than The Ministry for the Future. Liked both books.

It’s obvious to me from reading his books that he has no love for Capitalism as either a social or economic system that is unselfish enough to solve the planet’s problems.

The ideas he presents in The Ministry for The Future are ideas that have been discussed in the “real world”. Also the weather events are real possibilities.

7. Both New York 2140 & Ministry for the Future were excellent.

Mr Robinson is clearly no fan of capitalism. It was evident in the Mars Trilogy. As far as I know, he may have been the first to use the term transnational for corporations.

The Ministry for the Future was advocating subversion as a way to fight climate deniers and polluters. It may come to that.

6. I read "The Ministry for the Future", and I'm almost finished with "2312".

Generally, I liked both of these books. Specifically, there are some things I didn't like. For example, I wish he would refrain from putting in those short chapters that don't add much to the story. And, in "2312", there are sexually-oriented scenes that quite frankly, he should have left out.

I'm not going to read another of his books for awhile.

8. Have to finish "The Memory of Whiteness"*. E-book I didn't get to finish.

*Whitness being what's called white line energy that lights up the solar system in particular further out

It's pretty interesting. Definitely curious enough to want to see the outcome.
This music genius who plays this big orchestra instrument which plays all the instruments. He's touring the Solar System far out going inwards.
Some kind of conspiracy possibly messing with this energy?

9. First KSR bought and read was his PhD thesis on Philip K Dick.

On a bookshelf behind glass of with jewels of PKD collection. Learned about KSR's thesis on an email list that grew out of The Philip K Dick Society in the early internet.

Read and really liked the California and Mars trilogies long ago. Last KSR novel purchased and read was Years of Rice and Salt about 20 years ago.
