I have often wandered about head coaches employing one or more of their family members for assistant coaching jobs. I assume it is a condition for employment for the high profile coaches, but it definitely has a down side. Britt Reid's past behavior is something that would have most likely prevented a person not with a familial connection from having a coaching job in the NFL.

What is even more fascinating is that, for now, I don't see the feeding frenzy you might expect if this had been prior to an event other than the Super Bowl. I suspect the commercial value of the Super Bowl is keeping coverage of the story down.

I'd put my money on Tampa Bay. This story is huge, but there seems to also be a lot of little weird things happening with KC...

First of all, what ever you tell the cops it's NEVER the lower number. More like take the higher number and add 2.

It's looking more and more like she's going to pull through, thank goodness!

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- A 5-year-old girl left critically injured and in a coma following a crash this month involving Kansas City Chiefs assistant coach Britt Reid is now awake, her family said in an online post.

The news was delivered Monday in a brief post on the GoFundMe page for Ariel Young, who has been hospitalized since the Feb. 4 crash.

Reid, who is the the son of Chiefs head coach Andy Reid, was the team's outside linebackers coach. He was initially placed on administrative leave immediately following the crash, but is now no longer employed by the team. His contract expired in recent days and was not renewed.

Just a terrible situation overall. Poor girl and her family didn't deserve this.
