Army still has two games left. Tulane at home next week then Navy on the 14th.

Most points allowed - Kent (0-12) 529. 44/game.
Fewest points allowed - THE Ohio State (10-2) 131. That’s 32 lower than Notre Dame (11-1) at 163.

Most points scored - Miami (10-2) 530
Fewest points scored - Kent 167 - 14/game. Edging out Houston (4-8) at 168. So. Miss (1-11) 183 and Florida State (an astounding 2-10) 185.

Closest difference
Cincinnati (5-7) had 302 PF & 295 PA. Colorado State (8-4) had 300-292.

Kent was the only winless team in D1 this year. Purdue and So. Miss were both 1-11.

1. I know the history, but I still cringe when I hear the very pretentious "THE" Ohio State

Then again, I'm sorry, but I'm no Ohio State fan. Admittedly I get amused when "newbie" football fans confuse OSU (Oklahoma State University) with Ohio State--oops "THE" Ohio State University.

And then they went and trademarked "THE!" Sorry, but too damned pretentious in my book.

2. I know but look it's all we have right now

Let’s see if they stay in the top 12. Either Oregon (most likely) or Indiana wins the Big 10 title and I can’t see 3 Big 10 teams making it into the playoff but then the committee will do anything to stop the Big 10 and SEC from just leaving and doing their own championship.

3. Yeah, the politics of the CFP is obvious. But Ohio State (IMHO) talk about dumping their coach

seems extremely premature to me... Just because they haven't defeated Michigan? A lawyer friend I walk with pre-dawn compared it with one of his alma maters, Nebraska, who fired successful coach Tom Osburn's successor, Frank Solich-- who never won less than 9 games each season in five years. Since then NE has pitched to the bottom... Even Nick Saban had a couple of early bad years with Alabama.

So, even teams I don't especially favor, drive me nuts when they do this kind of thing.

That said, on the "pretentious" list right now for me is Texas--which has decided no one in the SEC but them knows football and made sure all knew in their first year of SEC membership. May UGA (again defeat them and) blast them out of the SEC championship.

5. Earl Bruce won almost 80% of his games but couldn't beat the team up north

The Coach Cooper era was when they really became an NFL farm team but he couldn’t beat UM

Tressel was the one that infuriated me. He built a juggernaut of a program at Youngstown State (trust me as a Marshall fan - heartbreakers) and won a National Championship at OSU. As I understand it, he wouldn’t sufficiently kiss the rings of a local powerhouse booster club AND they wanted the more exciting Urban Meyer so they forced Tressel out. The tattoo controversy pales in comparison to others that followed at Ped State especially.

4. UC was disappointing and had so many blown opportunities in games, they could have been 8-4 with just a few breaks.

And congrats to THE oSU for claiming a meaningless stat title. I imagine it's zero solace after losing THE GAME yesterday

6. Didn't follow the Bearcats

Their first two losses were by 4 points total. Then it looks like it fell apart with 5 straight losses.

7. 5-2 and the feel-good story of the Big 12 before the "big collapse."

If Ryan Day is on his way out of town he can take Scott Satterfield with him.

Edit: Luke Fickell should have stayed at UC. I'd bet he, UC and Wisconsin fans would all be happier.
