Yes or No.
My answer is no. Even with all the money they spent and the superstars they signed, Dave Roberts will somehow fuck it up. He's not the greatest manager in baseball. (The greatest manager - Bruce Bochy - won the World Series last year.)

(4,588 posts)I predict we'll win 105 games and get "daveroberts-ed" in the playoffs. If we make it to the NLCS it will be against the Braves.
The Braves are better than the Dodgers, not by a lot, but still better. So my answer today, is no.

On paper, the Dodgers look ridiculously good! But the Mets spent the most of all teams in 2023 and where did that get them?

(1,466 posts)It'll be a long time before they overcome the trash can banging. I'm just an insignificant little baseball fan and I can do nothing about it, and I hope I get over it soon - but I'm not over it yet.

Or probably every other team in the league, including the Dodgers?

Who picked the Rangers last spring?
Who picked the D'Backs to get to the WS from the NL last spring?
There's better than a 50% chance they won't win, so I'll go with "No".

(20,622 posts)the Dodgers stand at 10-5 in this very early stage of the season, good for first place in the NL West. They've mostly looked good, but not exceptional.
In terms of winning percentage, the Brewers!, Pirates!, Yankees, Braves and Guardians! are all better at the moment. The KC Royals are equivalent!!! That won't last, however.
The Yankees and Braves have a higher payroll than the Dodgers (mostly because of Ohtani's deferred salary). The other teams mentioned above are close to half or less of the Dodgers' payroll.
In terms of run differential, L.A. is at +13 so far. That's lower than the Guardians (+35), the Royals (+29), the Braves (+26), the Orioles (+23), the Rangers (+21), the Pirates (+19), the Red Sox (+18), the Diamondbacks (+17), and the Yankees (+15).
Just a little update.
