1. Skubal was killed on a sinker. One pitch. Thomas was waiting for it.

Tigers had us scared. Good, scrappy squad almost pulled it out.

7. Hmmm. The last team Bill Veeck owned was the White Sox.

Not sure you want to invoke him, and bring 121 loss vibes into this. How about Bob Feller? He was a good Iowa boy; a prickly SOB, but Iowa born and bred, and 266 Cleveland wins.

And he integrated the AL with Larry Dolby so Cleveland fans have more positive vibes about Veeck than Chicago fans.

12. Sigh. I know all of that. I also know he owned the Browns and sent midget Eddie Gaedel to bat.

He wanted to buy the Phillies and stock it with players from the Negro Leagues, but Commissioner Landis thwarted him. His father was President of the Cubs, and Bill helped plant the ivy on the outfield wall. I know he lost part of his right leg after being injured by an artillery piece in WWII. I even read his autobiography, Veeck — As In Wreck, when I was 14.

I was trying to be somewhat humorous. Apparently I failed.

Guys can push with a new team. Thomas has really turned it around. He and Fry give Vogt flexibility in protecting Kwan and Ramirez in the line-up. And i'm especially jacked to see Gimenez and Rocchio contribute at the number 8 and 9 positions.

The last match-up we need to see is Yankees vs. Dodgers, though Manfred and the press would love it.
