I know the game isn't over yet, but with the score 23-3 in the top of the ninth, I'm pretty sure they got this!
Fly the W, baby!
Next up: the Cardinals on Friday. I just hope the Cubs bats aren't too worn out by then.
GO CUBS GO!!!!

(2,432 posts)I was going to get a post ready and you still beat me to it.
I don't know if this was more ridiculous or exciting. These guys are on fire! I almost wished hey could save some runs for a more difficult game, but this was great fun--except for Seiya's shiner. 😬

(3,538 posts)and when Dansby Swanson hit that grand slam in the eighth making it 22-3, I just busted out laughing. It was insane. Then at the end of the inning when the announcer said it was a frolicsome eighth inning for the Cubs who scored eight runs, I laughed even harder. Frolicsome - now that's a word you don't hear everyday.
Boy, it sure was good to be on the winning end of a 23-3 game!

(2,432 posts)The nail-biters to the 9th and beyond are the worst (especially when theyve blown a big lead), so this was the giggly antidote to all thosein one shot! Craziness!

(1,969 posts)what an offensive onslaught. I love it. Been watching my boys since 1977. They're playing well right now despite all their injuries.

Not one reply. The Cubs put up a similar offensive display, and there are two threads.
Good for the Cubs. Eight home runs, ties a franchise record (tied also last 4th of July, I remember well!). Swanson's three homers and eight RBIs also ties the franchise record. Swanson has 57 RBIs as I write this, leading the team... as the 9th hitter almost all the time. Impressive.
