Morse stars, Giants get 8 runs and sweep Twins
Before anyone petitions Commissioner Bud Selig to move the Giants into the American League Central on his way out the door, please note they have not yet played the best team in that division. Then again, if memory serves, the Giants had a pretty good series against the Tigers in recent years.
The 2014 Giants have feasted on the Indians and Twins, sweeping both at AT&T Park and completing their mastery of Minnesota with a 8-1 butt-whipping Sunday, one of their easiest wins of the year.
Madison Bumgarner earned his team-high sixth win, struck out 10 while allowing three hits in seven innings, and avenged the worst start of his career, an eight-run debacle against the Twins in 2011 that lasted one-third of an inning.
Well, he sort of. Joe Mauer was the only Twin to play in both games, and Bumgarner struck him out all three times Sunday. The only pitchers to accomplish that against Mauer were CC Sabathia (twice), John Lackey and Ryan Dempster.
