Related: About this forumLincecum stellar again as Giants beat Cardinals 5-0
The Giants have needed a spark in the worst way, one player to step up and say he was tired of all this losing. Who guessed it would be a two-time Cy Young winner once considered among the game's best pitchers?
In the past two starts, the no-hitter against the Padres and Tuesday night's 5-0 victory against the Cardinals, Tim Lincecum has not mimicked his glory days, when he had a power arm. This could be better: consistency from a guy who has to be a "pitcher."
"Just tremendous," Hunter Pence said after Lincecum followed the no-hitter with eight shutout innings and pitched the Giants back into first place in the National League West after a 24-hour absence.
"I really don't know how to describe it. They were two phenomenal performances. He's got that groove, and it's fun to play behind him."
