The city received only $2.3 million from the state’s liquid fuels fund this year, and in 2016 some $13.6 million is budgeted for street repair and paving alone. (Another $219,632 is devoted to bike lanes, according to city finance director Paul Leger. That’s almost a 62-to-1 roads-to-lanes ratio.)
That’s before we even get into the cost of snow removal, traffic lights and traffic cops. All that also comes from the city’s general fund. Revenue arrives from many sources, but the lion’s share is from real estate and wage taxes. Together, they provide more than four times what the city gets from the parking tax.
This came up do to a weird Auto-Bicycle Accident:
The commander said Ms. Hicks was behind a vehicle at a red light in the left turning lane of Forbes at its intersection with South Bellefield.
A car in one of two through lanes attempted to cross over into the turning lane but struck a vehicle behind the cyclist. That car then struck the bicycle, pushing it into the car in front of it and knocking it over, between the two vehicles.
A man who was driving the car that switched lanes had some type of medical emergency after the crash, and he and Ms. Hicks were taken to UPMC Presbyterian, where Ms. Hicks later died, Ms. Toler said.

That is just weird, one car hit another car, that was waiting for the light to change. That second car hits the cyclist that hit another car, and as a result she died.
An SUV was involved in the Accident, but it was the car AHEAD of the cyclist (i.e. the car she was PUSHED into):

Pittsburgh recently had one of its few Auto-Pedestrian killings, and like most of them the Pedestrians made the mistake of NOT jaywalking:

Yes, Jaywalkers are NOT killed in Pittsburgh, almost all of the Pedestrians killed by drivers were in cross walks and crossing the street legally. One of the reason for this is Pittsburgh was a city, designed for you to tie up your canoe on the banks of the Monongahela or Allegheny River and walk into town. Streetcars were a good retrofit, Automobiles a terrible retrofit.
One advocate, called for abolishment of Cars in the Oakland Section of Pittsburgh (Where the University of Pittsburgh, Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) and Carlow Collage are located):
