A better picture of the Flycatcher or Warbler + suet recipe

Might offer some more clues to what s/he is. In any case s/he is so much fun to watch hover around the feeder.

They love it! The store bought stuff will last for weeks but they eat this stuff up in a day or two! Everything from wood peckers to wrens and tit mouses are attracted to it.

I do add the raisins and a cup of bird seed as well. Press it into a 9x9 inch pan and cut it in four squares--fits perfectly in a suet feeder.

3. The beak appears more Finch-like in this photo.

The main problem with these suet recipes is using peanut butter containing salt and other additives. It's also harder for birds to de-hull the seed assortment used in these fat recipes, unless they are de-hulled ingredients to begin with, such as sunflower hearts.

4. Thanks for the advice. Not much I can do about the salt in the PB

but the seeds are hulled and the lard is all natural.

My feeders are lightly visited when the weather is good. When it ices over they become very popular so I guess that means there is adequet natual food available when it's not under ice or snow.

5. Birds don't need unhealthful peanut butter in a beef suet recipe.

I offer birds hulled roasted peanuts in specific peanut feeders, peanut chips, chopped peanuts, whole peanuts, added to a variety of feeders suited for particular birds, in addition to plainer suet.
