Tawny owl chicks are renowned for being very adventurous and often leave the nest well before they can actually fly. You'll notice their flight feathers have not come through.

Once tawny owls are out of the nest, they don't return and tend to spend their days in the surrounding tree canopy hopping from branch to branch. This is known as 'branching' and the parent birds continue to feed them here. Interestingly, these chicks seem to enjoy sitting on the edge of the nest entrance, where mum can groom them
