Great shot, too! TY Walleye!

His feathers almost look like soft fur.

Didn’t really expect him to come and pose in the afternoon light like that for me. Usually when I see them at all, they’re much farther away in the holly tree

My feeder in Northern Virginia. About 4 or 5 of them. Didn’t know what it was!

I thought I had seen bluebirds (not jays) before, but that rust color on the breast…? And I’m old.

Turns out they are in Canada to the Deep South , more on the eastern side of the country.

Freaky - I have not seen one since that day.

(unless we are talking the same critter)
I think they moved elsewhere before the snowstorms.
Nice colors.

Never had one come this close before, they usually stay in the Holly trees out by the road. I’m in Wilmington Delaware

I'll separately post the Western one. Very similar and time of year and the light (early, late, high, low) can really alter the color perception. Not sure if I posted it before. They sure do have nice colors.

I left the kitchen door open for a minute while I stepped out, thinking the cat may want out. When I stepped back in there was a humming bird in the window above the sink. I was able to put my hand over it and pick it up. I removed some cobwebs and it flew out of my hand sooner than I would have released it, but it made it out the door.

1500' 4 miles from the coast. On a clear day the ocean can be seen through a low saddle in the coast ridge.
