1. Are the Geese still sitting in the Osprey nest?

2. Not now/yet! Nest appears forlorn, at the moment,

and I'm awaiting Osprey's return.

3. Osprey were held back by recent weather, only 1 was counted at Cape May today ...

but last year during this week there were about 25-35 some days at Cape May.

I have read that communities who build/maintain Osprey platforms often do a complete Spring clean-out of the old Osprey nest to deter geese squatters. I understand about your landlord situation, was just wondering how difficult it would be for someone to throw some branches up across the nest, to deter the geese.

4. Would be VERY difficult to do such, distance and perspective being what they are.

Landlord did hire someone to do repairs on roof of 'boat house' a few years ago.

I drove to nearby lighthouse today, and discovered NO ospreys or nest there, this 10? miles from home, overlooking the Bay. Have found both nest AND ospreys past years.

5. It's possible the recent windstorm tore apart any nest on that lighthouse ...

and the choppier water during wind storms makes it harder for Osprey to even fish. They might be hunkered down elsewhere (?)

if any branches around.

7. Thought you had the same nor'easter with howling winds that was moving up the coast saturday.

9. Even the Osprey mother in Moorings Park, Florida got blown over in her nest

wind completed flipped her over, feet flying over her head, like doing a back flip. Saw it happen to her twice.

Nothing like that here, and many Cherry Blossoms 'survived!'

11. All of that powerful weather had to affect the migrations along the coast ...

12. I think you're correct, but have read reports of ospreys in everal northern places,

even near me in MD.

13. They were part of the earlier arrivals, following the big herring migration ...

then it seemed several of those Osprey were just passing through and disappeared. The subscribers on the Chesapeake Conservancy cam mentioned the various sightings near your vicinity. The Kent Island female just arrived, but the male is missing (even though more than one Osprey was sighted near that nest)

Who knows where all the missing Osprey are traveling from? The early ones that arrived in New York and Cape Cod with the herring migration probably wintered in the southern states.
