I figured out my mystery bird!

A month ago, I posted asking for help identifying a bird that was new to me. Monochromatic deep gray, with a dark gray bill and legs. Black eyes. No markings of any kind. Never stayed still long enough for me to get much of a look until a few days ago.

She is the female “half” of the brown-headed cowbird. We’ve had male cowbirds aplenty in the past, but I’ve never noticed the females before.

Nothing exotic, I know, but I was still slighted to finally be able to identify this bird. They are quite pretty, IMO.

I recently read that the more birds people see, the happier they are.
