I was so close to being free of Aaron Rodgers. So, so close. There the Packers were at 4-8, with Rodgers being the same joyless asshole hes been throughout his entire career: making frowny faces after every failed third down attempt, searching downfield in vain for Davante Adams only to find a succession of puds, spending more time with Pat McAfee than in the film room, and playing the worst football of his career. It was MAGNIFICENT, I tell you. Better than my wedding day. It was the time of my life, and its what Rodgers deserved after outing himself a season ago as a walking Substack.
He was done. Washed. One more loss and his Packers would be out of the playoffs, bereft even of the opportunity to continue their now-annual tradition of blowing a layup playoff game. He would then spend all offseason doing his whole fake Hmmm maybe Ill retire shtick, and then get traded to Carolina, and then go 0-17, and then end the season in jail for assaulting Jim Harbaugh with a bottle of switchel. Oh, what a demise it would have been. All of that was right there to be had. MINE.
Instead, I got this:

As I sat here watching the refs systematically hand the game to the Seahawks with FOUR missed calls in a row, I couldn't help but find it a very bittersweet day. One bad call, maybe, but four in a row down the stretch?
Then the Seahawks put up a Go Lions sign at their stadium and all the fans started "rooting" for the Lions. Let me tell you, as a Lions fan who lives in Seattle, I find this a really bad look.
Yeah, I am salty.

(5,132 posts)and wanted the Lions to win, had the Lions lost there would have been a small part of me that would have enjoyed Seattle's having their hopes dashed. Meh, guess I'll just have to wait until this Saturday to see that.
The Lions had so many bad bounces this year and let so many games slip away at the last minute. They could have easily had a few more wins. Hell, if they could have just held on against Seattle in early October they'd be preparing for the playoffs themselves. Next year looks very promising.

(28,690 posts)The Lions and Seattle played a very sloppy game but don't forget we stopped them at 4th and 16 and the refs decided to give them another play and they scored and that was the difference in the game, and that play ended up determining the playoffs. Arrgh.
