Bears - Packers

It's the oldest rivalry in the NFL. There is no team Bears fans want to beat more than the Packers, and vice versa. It's rare that this game happens when both teams are actually pretty good. It's even rarer - perhaps unprecedented - that the winner gets at least temporary possession of the #1 seed in the playoffs.

Chicago is all a-buzz right now. The Bears have a very good running game and a good offense overall, but they haven't faced a defense this good. Their offensive line - much lauded hereabouts and rightly so -will be facing huge threats: Micah Parsons this week, Myles Garrett next week, and Micah Parsons the week after. Then there's the question of which Jordan Love will show up; sometimes he's quite average, and sometimes he's superhuman.

This might be a game for the ages. Or it could be a blowout either way. This is why we watch football.

1. Whichever team loses (or the Packers in case of a tie) moves down to #7.

That of course is temporary too, but shows how tight the NFC seeding is at the moment.

3. Yeah I'm excited about it.

I'm a Packers fan now but I lived in Chicago for a long time. Jordan Love is peaking this year.

Saw the Bears win a SuperBowl and the Bulls win 6 championships.

Fans for both of these teams are pros at sitting out in the cold for HOURS.

8. Bears made a game of it but they were overmatched.

These Packers think they can win the Super Bowl this year, and they might be right. With Micah Parsons, their pass rush is legit. They're good but not great at running the ball and Jordan Love is historically mighty in December. No team seems dominant, so it boils down to who's hot at the right time. Seattle, the Rams and the Packers are all contenders for the NFC crown, or so it looks to me.

9. As a longtime Packers fan I have to say I was pleasantly surprised.

I hoped for a good season but I still don't really expect a Super Bowl. I guess its because of all the Aaron Rodgers years when we lost in the playoffs, year after year.

The announcer pointed out that the Bears have had great years and the Packers have had great years - but never at the same time.
