I'm looking for your suggestions.

I have a Sony Playstation 3 and love role playing, adventure games like Skyrm, Oblivion, Fallout 3, Dragon Age Ultimate Edition and to a lesser extent Dark Souls is also good.

What other games might you be aware of that are similar to those games that I listed and suited to a SP3?

1. The Mass Effect and Bioshock franchises are EXCELLENT.

I don't know if Bioshock qualifies as RP, ME has some RP elements. Still, the narrative stuff in both games is awesome. Bioshock infinite was one of the best games I ever played, bar none.

2. Borderlands 2

It's a combination shooter & rpg. The rpg aspects involve customizing your characters and adding lots of stuff to their skill trees, abilities & weapons. A lot of the game involves finding loot, since you play as a vault hunter. It's probably my favorite ps3 because it's hilarious. Check out some gameplay footage on youtube. The next version of it comes out in mid-October. It's called Borderlands 2: the Presequel! The exclamation point is part of the humor. It's kind of a parody of other genre games. I'm all over getting the 'presequel' because it will add another dimension of verticality. You'll be able to jump around in zero gravity. The developers, Gearbox, may be my favorite studio apart from Rockstar.

Another one that I've heard is quite fun, but haven't yet played, is South Park: The Stick of Truth. It's a turn-based strategy game.

Try gamefaqs or ign for more rpgs. You can look up the all games lists and narrow your search down to rpgs. Happy gaming.

I don't believe they make those for PS3?

4. I think there are some games like that for the PS3 now.

I'm pretty sure they have made some great versions of those games now for the PS3. Pretty sure there's a Diablo and a Civilization game. I don't play those games so I can't say for sure. But one of the great things about the PS3 having been around for a while is that so many great games have either been ported for the PS3 or directly build from the ground up specifically for it. 7. If you are into JRPGs at all

There is the tales series. They combine fighting and Japanese role playing game elements.

Currently, Tales of Xillia; Tales of Graces; and Tales of Symphonia Chronicles (which is 2 games in one) are out in the PS3.

Tales of Vesperia is out (but in Japanese only).

Xillia 2 will be out on the 19'th of this month, and Tales of Zestiria will be out next year on the PS3.

9. I have played the original Tales of Symphonia (gamecube)

And it is one of my all time favorites. You get that game and its sequel (wii) together in chronicles for the PS3. Chronicles is a HD remake of these games so expect the graphics to be a bit dated.

I also loved Tales of the Abyss (PS 2) and Tales of Phantasia (SNES) but those aren't ps3 games

I am starting to work my way through on Xillia but I don't like it as much as I did symphonia. It seems to be taking some elements from FF series by dropping the world map for more of a linear world like FFX.

It also made the way your character grows more like world of warcraft talents. Open this grid and attack X does 5% more crit, you have a chance of resisting X, and so on.

Its not bad, and probably will pick up once I get a bit further through it, just that it feels kinda meh in comparison.

Just so you know, all tales games are story and dialogue heavy. I know a lot of people don't like that so that is something to consider.

10. I like good dialogue, stories, deep characters and an open world where you can go just about

anywhere even if going to the wrong place too soon gets you killed.

One of the things I loved about Fallout 3 was the setting in Washington D.C. and a unique aspect of carrying a radio with you that played 50s period type music and propaganda, this truly enriched the fantasy.

My favorite RPG game so far is SKYRIM because it's beautiful, complex and gives me many gray area choices to make.

13. Cool Uncle Joe. I think Mass Effect 3 and

Bioshock Infinite (as Warren said above) and the other ones mentioned by others on this thread will please you a lot. Far Cry 3 & Borderlands 2 are more rpg-shooter hybrids. And of course, Grand Theft Auto V for incredibly immersive gameplay and Saints Row IV for over the top parody. So, you've gotten a lot of great suggestions here in this thread.

You can't go wrong with any of them!

14. The Mass Effect series (which I see several have recommended already).

It's not necessarily an RPG along the lines of Skyrim, but it's an RPG none the less. One of the best stories and some of the best character development I've ever seen in gaming.

The first is much more of a traditional RPG, but the latter two are more shooter oriented.

I'm surprised you're doing Bethesda games on the PS3 though. Fallout New Vegas and Skyrim never got along with it for me, so I got the 360 versions.

17. With regard to Bethesda and the PS3

The way the PS3's memory system is divided into two separate 256mb partitions, and since Sony itself has been less than cooperative with Bethesda on development, games like Skyrim and FNV have memory issues, and eventually slow down to a crawl.

The 360 doesn't have that division and, consequently, the games perform much better.

On the topic of strategy games, there's something out there for just about everyone. Starcraft and Warcraft are fairly easy to get into, and so are most of the C&C games. If you're looking to try more complex games, I'd recommend Rise of Nations; it's older, but still terrific. Like Risk in that you play on a map of the world, but then fight the battles in real time like other strategy games. And like Civilization, the game goes through the whole of human history, from throwing rocks to tanks and aircraft.

And there's also the Homeworld series, a personal favorite of mine. It's a 3D strategy game set in space, all fleet-to-fleet combat. The first two (Homeworld and HW: Cataclysm) are very well done.
