Update 5: Battle.net has been hit once again, according to Blizzard customer service. The attack was foreshadowed when Lizard Squad pointed to a Twitch user playing Hearthstone. Minutes later, the group targeted a Dota 2 stream. A portion of Dota 2 servers have been affected, but there does not appear to be widespread outage at this time.
Update 4: Lizard Squad has now set their sights on Xbox Live. Xbox Support confirms that service has been affected.
Update 3: A Sony Online Entertainment representative has issued a statement to Shacknews in regards to SOE President John Smedley having his flight diverted over a fake bomb threat. The statement reads "I can confirm that at this time the FBI is handling this directly." The rep added that no specifics could be offered, as this has now become a matter of national security.

http://www.polygon.com/2014/8/24/6063149/hacker-threat-diverts-flight-carrying-sony-online-president
Earlier this afternoon, the hacker group that says it brought down PSN tweeted this threat to American Airlines' account. A tweet while the flight was airborne (and since taken down) also contained a link to this image appearing to show an e-Ticket for Smedley's flight, with a confirmation number, asking Smedley and Sony if this was indeed his flight. The hackers continued to tweet threats about the flight.

http://www.news.com.au/technology/online/did-isis-take-down-sonys-playstation-network/story-fnjwnj25-1227035849704
SONYS PlayStation Network was taken down this morning by a series of DDoS attacks, which a group of ISIS hackers is taking credit for.
Known as the Lizard Squad, the IS-associated group has taken to Twitter to claim credit for the networks downing. Attempts to hack gaming networks arent new, but this is the first time that it appears attacks have occurred due to political or religious reasons.

While Lizard Squad seem happy to take the credit for the attack, another hacker by the name of @FamedGod is claiming the attack was his work. The hacker is even claiming to let people back onto the PlayStation Network if enough people report Lizard Squad on Twitter for spam and get them banned.
In another bizarre twist, TechCrunch is reporting that Sonys President of Online Entertainment John Smedley had his jet diverted for inspection after Lizard Squad tweeted that they had a bomb planted.
