Who is Gil Robles? I put his name in the googelizer and came up with a far right religious politician active at the start of the Spanish Civil War. He was referred to as an inquisitor, but more information did not easily present itself to me. Does anyone know more about this guy?

I am puzzled by the mention of purgatory. I thought that was some kind of half-way house for sinners, but I thought it was run by God.
