Religion

is just a song.
Miracles, however, seem to be essential to religion. Stuff that happens that we can't explain. Miracles. If you can believe that such things happen, you're likely to be a good candidate for belief in some religion or another. Those religions want to talk to you.
So do others. Homeopathy practitioners, patent medicine hawkers, swindlers, con artists, and salespeople for nifty products and ideas. You're their prime target demographic. You're ready to believe their pitch. Sleazy politicians and TV evangelists, too. You're their favorite marks.
See, you don't insist on hard evidence for things. You don't squeeze the Charmin' and you can be convinced that Chevies are far superior to Fords. You're a sweet dream believer.
Miracles are wonderful, don't get me wrong. Or, they would be if they actually occurred.
I don't believe in miracles. They're just things that haven't been explained yet or have not been properly investigated.
I'm a skeptic. I'm an atheist. But that's just me.

It appears to have created a fold in my brain.
I got a shiver just thinking about it.
