Right-wing Pastor Robert Jeffress never misses an opportunity to conflate Christianity with the Republican Party, and yesterday was no exception.

He was responding on FOX Business Network to what Mayor Pete Buttigieg said during Wednesday night’s debate about how any party that worships a God who condones “putting children in cages has lost all claim to ever use religious language again.”

His point was obviously that it’s the height of hypocrisy for Republicans to talk about how religious they are while actively hurting the most vulnerable people among us. He’s right about that.

Jeffress doesn’t buy that, of course, but his defense was to imply that all Democrats are godless whether they admit it or not (I wish) and that any kind of faith outreach by the Party is just a ruse because they don’t actually care about Christians.

According to the story, a god who knows everything (including the future) creates creatures that he KNOWS he will not accept as he made them.

So, he decides that the only just course of action is to deny his role in all of this and create a place to torture all of us forever (for being imperfect, the way HE made us).

Then, he arranges to get himself killed (because somehow that helps) and then rises again, wipes out any solid evidence that he exists, and agrees to be nice only to those people who believe THAT story.

If he existed at all, he'd effectively be Satan.

I didn't know that God spoke directly to Jeffress. Wow.

I really deplore someone (Jeffress) that paints a wide brushstroke against an entire group of people (democrats and their supporters) and like what Mayor Pete said that any political party that condones putting children in 'cages' loses any claims to any so called 'moral authority' (especially when they never had any moral authority with the vast number of Americans). Jeffress is reeking of desperation.

Jeffress claims the god Democrat's speak about is one of their imagination and he is right, but so is his. The reality is they are simply appealing to an imaginary moral authority in order to bend people to their own personal will. It's a story that's as as old as organized religion.
