Visualized Heartbeat Can Lead to ‘Out of Body Experience’
The source is unfamiliar to me, and I don't know if they are legit or not, but I thought some here might enjoy the article. I know that I would be willing to try it out.
Watching a visualization of your own heartbeat can lead to what researchers are calling an out-of-body experience, a new study says. In the experiment, volunteers were fit with a virtual reality headset that showed them their own body standing in front of them, along with a visualization of their own heartbeat. The study subjects regularly disassociated from their own body, instead beginning to attach their consciousness to the projected double.

Heart sounds are rhythmic and may lull the listener into an altered state. Some forms of hypnosis work by synchronizing breathing and thought with the subject. In your example, the subject to seeking to align with his projected self. Our minds fascinate me.
