As a cohost to this wonderful group I have a question for you
Do you want me to lock threads that are from people whose posting status has been revoked?
I feel a bit uncomfortable taking these steps without consensus from the other hosts, but sometimes other hosts are not around.
Which is why I am asking members of the group.
Do I act on my gut feeling or wait until someone has asked me to take an action?

(12 posts)Why are you here? No, really...You don't know me. You are acting like a chick from junior high in her little clique instead of a grown woman who can think for herself and allow different people to post.

(4,005 posts)If they started the thread and their privileges have been revoked, that may not be clear to those who only read the OP.
(If however they only replied to a thread, I think then it should be determined on a case by case basis.)

(14,881 posts)the topic started may be of interest for us to investigate, but then we can always start a "legitimate" thread if we want. So it's not like locking a thread prohibits discussion of the topic...
But I have to admit, I enjoyed romping with our troll today.

There is nothing stating we can't try one way and if it doesn't work then try something else.

(12 posts)Don't you see that if you had simply engaged me respectfully in the first place, there would have been no need for the rest of it? But no, too many people are followers and not leaders.

The lead host (and maybe the secondary hosts - I can't remember) can ban them from the group too.

(6,453 posts)I can see in some threads that we have had some fun with the trolls and so- why do anything there? But I get the sense that some trolls are coming here to hurt or harass our members and if they have already had their posting privileges revoked, the only thing any of the hosts can do is lock the thread. In comments we are all in the same boat- all we can do is alert.
So the host and cohosts can only lock threads and ban members from posting in our group. But if the poster's privileges have already been revoked, then the only action we can take is to lock the thread.
I guess if I take an action to lock a thread, as I did yesterday, and anyone thinks I am going overboard, please let me know. I have no desire to put brakes on our imaginative and playful responses to rude intruders....I just don't want low posters to worry that if they come here they will get attacked by accident.

(15,888 posts)As long as the post isn't hurting someone and you guys are having fun with the sock puppet I'd say to let it go. Eventually the sockie will get tired and go play somewhere else.

(4,225 posts)I don't want to worry or inhibit ASAH's Low posters at all They are already so sensitive and shy.
I just can't help but have a Little fun troll baiting. I'm so immature that way. LOL! But I will stop on a dime if it disturbs other members sensabilties.....Alot..... little bit.....???????

(23,156 posts)group. People would post thoughtful things on the topics we like to discuss here, and would get lots and lots of nasty, rude comments. Eventually, we all simply ignored those comments. Not responding made it a lot less interesting to those trolls. Once we got our own group, though, it was much nicer.
I haven't seen whatever it is you're referring to, so I can't offer an opinion on this. Except that it's probably best handled on a case by case basis.

(12 posts)And then opening up the 5th chakra so we can all say what we feel?
Being "uncomfortable" is not the end of the world. Sometimes what makes us that way is that it is bringing up something we have repressed. So being called a "disruptor" may not be such a horrible thing if we disrupt denial.
