(21,046 posts)The churches have taken over halloween, b/c they think it's satanic. I'm serious.
They have something where they get candy out of car trunks and call it "trunk
or treat".
And since it's on Wednesday, the usual midweek indoctrination session for churches, we're making sure that we've got lots of of candy, electric lights, and a fog machine going!!

Kookaburra
(2,649 posts)brought around his two little girls dressed as angels -- one all in white and one all in black -- handing out religious tracts and telling us how evil Halloween was.
They handed me one of the tracts, and I thanked them, complimented their costumes, gave them candy (I always get the good stuff for Halloween, and all the kids know it) and told them to let their daddy know that my mythology and his mythology are different.
Don't know if they told him -- it's possible they did because I didn't see the girls again, and usually kids hit my house twice because our neighborhood isn't that big.

(21,046 posts)The theremin is an electronic musical instrument that was used in "The Day The Earth Stood Still". It also makes that woo-wooey sound in "Good Vibrations".
This should mess with their heads in my very conservative area. Hell, I have the only non-neutral colored house in town (not white, beige or brown) so they decided a "buncha Mezzcans musta moved in." That is how unimaginative these folks are.
Takes very little to baffle 'em.
