My fiancé, Mike W., died at 9 PM, May 2nd.

I'm asking for light and love from anyone who is able to send it. My heart is broken.
I met him last fall, when he was just coming out of his last chemo treatment for Stage IV lung cancer. We both knew it was not a good prognosis, but fell in love anyway. I spent the last four months taking care of him at my home, and two days ago he was not able to walk and had to go stay with his parents so they could help take care of him. He died barely a day later, after lapsing into a coma and very quickly dying.
I'm so sad I wasn't with him when he died. But I'm glad for him and his parents that he was with them, because to have him die here, in another state, would have been hard for them.
He was such a good man, so much the perfect mate for me. I'm sure I'll understand some day why this had to happen. But for now, I'm searching for peace.

Mike's love will sustain me for a long, long while. He was that special. My family loved him, and I loved his family, and it is all sad but OK. I feel somehow I was chosen to do this - take care of Mike in his last days. We talked about it often, how we felt we had known each other for centuries. We completed each other.

We got through the funeral fine, and now I'm trying to get my head on straight. I will be OK. I have Mike's love to sustain me. It was a true love story, from beginning to end. For that I'm extremely grateful. Thanks again everyone, and here's some light back.
