The Lyrid Meteror Shower practically dropped one in our backyard!

Supposedly there was a sonic boom, fireball and a long rumbling/thud... whether there was an impact or the thing burned up before that is still yet to be told..
I was in bed, and my son was in the bathroom...I called to him "did you hear that?" and he said he was hiding behind the bathroom door, lol. The long rumble part made my kitty on my bed start growling...it was very weird...

I wonder how we would access any webcams or other satelitte info for a specific region or time? I looked on the NOAA site but couldn't figure it out...

I would guess most are privately owned, and any public ones may not be used to record, except for "official" reasons, and thus, not available to the public. You might just have to wait for anyone to release something. See if something has showed up on youtube yet

I dunno if anyone was actually "on it" to see this thing... the meteor shower was supposed to go from 2am to dawn, so any amateur astronomers may have been in bed! lol

no you tube...but here's the sac news (cheesy, but they got the streak on film) the boom was really the big deal IMO

I was out late with a friend, cycling around our neighborhood, back in the places that had yet to be developed. We saw the trail overhead and then it blew up. No sound, but a pretty bright flash. I have no idea what time of year that was, but I don't think it was cold out, so not winter

I recall there was (or is) a Discovery channel show about meteorite hunting. They often get the video of various strikes, if they make it to the ground. I don't know if they're still on the air, but they might also be a source for finding videos
