Employment Decisions
Hey y'all! Well, thanks to one potential employer taking their own sweet time in making a decision about whether to hire me, another has come along and made an offer (first one pays more, but has been in the "process" of wooing me for over five weeks! Damn HR!)
I'd rather take the higher paying job, but if they can't make a decision by this afternoon, then I'll be taking the "lesser" position. Which is too bad, because I would have liked working for the first one, even if the money offered was less. However, they are a rather large engineering firm, and have the typical molasses-slow HR department. Really, if a recruiter can vet a potential candidate in a matter of days, why can't anyone else? I've been stressed-out ever since getting considered by this other firm due to that damn HR department's apparent disinterest. (The manager that interviewed me was interested, though.)
I am curious if any of y'all might 'see' anything for me on this decision. I really hate being put into situations like this. I'd love to write a nasty letter to the one firm's HR department, but also don't want to hurt my chances or burn bridges. So, any insight would be helpful. I have to make my decision by this afternoon.

when you were being represented by a recruiter. I do have his email and number. I haven't used them because I didn't have any questions related to the position.

Try meditating on it. (I know, when you have to make a quick decision, settling down the mind is hard.) Remember....the Universe is magical & Goddess works in strange ways. It may be that this is divined for them to be dragging their feet because you would be better off in the other job. Who's to say that job may not pay better in the long run, or "fit" you better?
Try to "Look down the road".
What ever you decide, may it support your higher purpose.

I've got some time to meditate, for a little bit. Then I'll be calling and emailing various people.
It's interesting that the one that has made an offer has a rather high-pressure recruiter whereas the one I know is laid-back, yet still jumps to it when a position is on the line. I like her, and may have to disappoint her. Whereas the high-pressure guy has annoyed me more than once, even if he has gotten me an offer quickly.
I'll let y'all know of my decision, too

Probably your "head" is actually all over the place.
Drink a cup of peppermint tea to settle your 'gut', eat some pecans (they're good for job success & career matters) & go for it!

I have a big bag of them in my freezer as I was going to make either a "walnut cake" or a hot & sweet snack. Or I'll just eat them out of the bag!

Here's the pertinent part of the email my regular recruiter sent just now:
I called the other guy, had to leave a message, but have accepted the "lesser" position. One perk I hadn't mentioned, though, is that they work 4 tens, or Monday-Thursday, ten hours a day. Will be nice to have that Friday off, and every week!

Whew, I just filled out an app myself, so it was great to see a job post and to feel the energy begin to flow.

In my line of work (drafting/design) I pretty much have to use recruiters. However, I've got at least half a dozen recruiters contacting me on openings. Now I'll have to contact them, and take myself out of their markets for the time being. That should also open up opportunities for others, and perhaps it will then snowball to you!
the universe works in mysterious ways, but this was probably the better position for you anyway! 
We'll see this week. I have a two-hour orientation tomorrow first thing, in another building on the other side of town! It's not too bad of a drive, though I'm leaving really early as I don't know what traffic will be like. I do know what it's like for the other offices where I'll be working, as I used to pass them on my way to the last job. Freeway in the morning, neighborhood roads in the afternoon (Houston freeways clog up in the afternoons.)
Hopefully, I'll also be learning another software program called Blue Sky (it's a database program that makes alignment sheets.) And this afternoon, I'll be opening up my copy of AutoCAD to refresh my memory on certain commands
And I've spent the last 2.5 hours filling out/signing paperwork
Some of them have to be notarized, which I'll do tomorrow. I only hope I've done it all right
