Related: About this forumIsraeli locksmith fatally shot in robbery in Memphis
I posted this in LBN and it got shut down to further discussion as it was "just another murder." Perhaps it was, but the repercussions of this are being felt strongly in Jewish communities in the US, maybe around the world. Especially as this was right after the Rabbi was murdered in the UAE.
Some of my friends are starting arms training.
Anyway, here's an excerpt. I expect more information soon, and hoping it was just a murder/robbery.
Condolences to Aviv's family and all who knew and loved him.

"On Thursday evening, around 10:30 p.m., Aviv received a call to change a lock," Ilai, Broek's friend and co-worker, told Ynet. "When he got out of the car in an isolated alley, he was robbed and shot four times in the stomach. According to the police, he did not resist or struggle, yet they shot and killed him."
Ilai said that a friend who worked with Aviv located him shortly after. "They reached him two hours after the shooting. They found him lying on the floor and immediately called the police," he said. "They used a location app on their phones, and that's how they found him. As soon as the app stopped working, we started to suspect something was up."
Preliminary findings indicate the suspect who lured Broek to the scene used a disposable phone and selected a remote location near a highway with no security cameras. Police have recovered the phone and recordings of the call between Broek and the suspect, but the shooters identity remains unknown.

(14,270 posts)both quietly and blatantly. My daughter is in NC and has re-connected with our family's heritage (my grandmother was jewish, I was in BBYO in my teens). She wears her star of david proudly and refuses to hide her passion for her people that she is reclaiming.
I worry sometimes for her safety. This is not "just another murder" ...

(9,403 posts)Plain and simple. It doesn't take a lot to instill fear in a population.
Terrorism is the use of violence, threats, or intimidation, especially against civilians, to achieve political, ideological, religious, or social objectives. It often aims to instill fear, disrupt societies, or pressure governments into specific actions or concessions. This definition encompasses both state and non-state actors, though the term is frequently associated with non-state groups.
