Requesting prayers and healing vibes for my older brother today

He is going in to surgery today at 4 pm, he will be undergoing brain surgery.
He has been experiencing a serious situation for most of the last month, and has already had less invasive procedures to help him, but now it has come to this radical and risky operation: they will be lifting part of his skull to access his brain.
We, his family, are scared, but hopeful that this procedure will return our brother, husband, father, uncle, nephew and cousin to us again.
It’s a 5 hour procedure and I will update at some point.
Your prayers and well wishes are appreciated

my SIL has sent an update: surgery went well and surgeons are positive with results. He will hopefully be off the ventilator within 24 hours. He was put on the ventilator several days ago as he developed pneumonia but it has been treated successfully so they proceeded with today’s surgery .
Now he’s in neuro ICU and hopefully will be recovering over the coming days.
Now it’s recovery time.

w/ flying colors, and although she had numbness from the surgery afterwards, a follow-up surgery corrected the issue (disturbed nerve that left part of her facial muscles numb). Now is going strong and good, and that's what I wish for you all, that all goes well, that you all do well too, and take care of yourselves too during this difficult time.

...but I hope you will take some comfort in the knowlege that the practice of medicine has advanced tremendously in our lifetimes. A brain surgery of this complexity would have been unthinkable 50 years ago, yet, many of these procedures have become routine for the skilled surgeons who execute them.

Just got word from my brother that he should be going home this Thursday 11/10

He has had a long and sometimes very rough go of it these last months : another surgery was performed (basically a repeat of the one above) and at one point drs said they would be putting a breathing tube and feeding tube in him, and transferring him to hospice for end of life procedures … we were all stunned and miserable with grief.
Then his wife read them the riot act, a new team of drs came on and said “ no, he has no permanent brain damage, and should regain all his functions eventually”
He was unconscious and in a pre-coma state for several weeks, and then he started waking up more and more and responding and he did, little by little and with PT and intensive therapy recover.

And now he’s going home !!
When I see him I’m going to show him this thread so he can see everyone working behind the scenes for his recovery ❤️‍🩹
