Related: About this forumHail Mary full of Grace... Feast of the Annunciation.
http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Feast_of_the_AnnunciationToday is the day the church celebrates the Announcement by the Angel Gabriel to Mary that she was going to bare a son.
Pour your grace into our hearts, O Lord, that we who have known the incarnation of your Son Jesus Christ, announced by an angel to the Virgin Mary, may by his cross and passion be brought to the glory of his resurrection; who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

Hail Mary, full of grace.
Our Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou among women,
and blessed is the fruit of thy womb,
Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God,
pray for us sinners,
now and at the hour of our death.
Amen.

Thank you. I never connected the significant of the prayer to the Angel Gabriel.

(68,644 posts)1. Thank you. I never connected the significant of the prayer to the Angel Gabriel.
I suppose that services in Latin when I was a child didn't help convey the history the matter very well.
And catechism classes might have assumed that we already knew these things.
Or I might have just been distracted that day!
Very cool, all the times I've recited the Hail Mary and never thought it through.
Thanks, Justin!

Although not really specific to the Annunciation, it's still a beautiful Marian prayer.
